Stockton, CA is a beautiful city. Among the fantastic Delta views and tree lined streets house the most amazing thing we see in Stockton, the people. Stockton is filled with every culture imaginable, and it’s absolutely beautiful. Our city is indeed filled with wonder. But even amidst the beauty of each handcrafted individual therein lie a need, a need for hope. And that’s where Lord’s Gym City Center comes in.

In 2009, we began to truly see the need our city had. We saw a need for a place that would serve as a fun and hopeful environment for teens, while providing a sate of the art fitness facility for adults. Stockton needed a place where love was shown in word and action. A place where every walk of life, young or old, would come and feel like it was their home, a place to belong. A place that would capture the heart of teenagers, providing an encouraging environment to grow them in their education, values and integrity. A place for new friendships to be discovered and relationships to be mended. A place where health would be an initiative and a place for fun!

We came across an empty warehouse that had been vacant for years. It did not have the makings of such a described place however as we walked through it, we began to see the potential of the 8,000 square foot facility. So we went to work! The vision was cast and it became a reality within a year.

It became apparent to us that our 8,000 square foot facility was by no means large enough! So we set our eyes to expand. For years we dreamed of purchasing the former Copeland’s Sports building on Hammer lane, however that dream was not meant to be. Until now! Through a series of unique miraculous events, we purchased the building that sat dormant for 13 years and have renovated it to be one of the most desirable buildings in Stockton (so we have been told by City officials!)

Since opening in January 2018, our new 30,000 square foot facility has welcomed over 3,500 community members; 2,000+ of whom are teenagers (13-17). In the short time our doors have been open, our facility has organically grown to be the largest teen center in Stockton becoming a beacon of hope to all who come through our doors.  It is our goal to provide local teens with the resources needed to stay off the street, and the foundation necessary to be successful today, tomorrow, and in the future.

Together, we will build strength for our community by igniting possibilities for under-served teens.

Our youth memberships are sponsored (no charge to the teen) because we believe in our work. Every teen (13-17) who signs up to be a member at the City Center completes a Resiliency Test because our teens are simply that; resilient. Since beginning our partnership with Community Partnership for Families of San Joaquin (CPFSJ) in February, the statistics below show how the City Center is improving the lives of our teens.
